I have never done Loan of Bitch before but will have to soon as I am planning to mate a bitch that I co-own, and her pups are to be registered under my kennel name (agreed with co-owner). The form isn't available on the KC website -pretty much every other form under the sun is but not this one. Nor can I find any info other than cost. Ca anyone tell me how soon the agreement has to be sent off? I.e. does it have to be before mating, before pups are born or anything similar?
As per the KC:-
Exclusions to the Online Transfer Service
If you wish to transfer the registered ownership of a dog, which involve any of the following exclusions, please contact us on 0844 4633 980 for advice.

Loan of Bitch agreement

Looks like an omission, you will probably need to ring them, and yes it will have to be paper registration when pups born,. as you say the form isn't in the list of Forms to download.
When I bred a litter with a Loan of Bitch in 2000 I know that the term had to be specified and we specified a year in case the first mating didn't take that it would still be in force for the next season.

Follow up questions: How does it work with loan of bitch? I sent off form and payment a few weeks ago and have heard nothing. Am I meant to hear anything back from the KC? When I register the pups, presumably it can only be done on paper and not online as the bitch does not show up in my online account? And when I do register, do I put just myself as the owner as she is under loan but normally co-owned?

You are the owner at the time of registration if the Loan of a bitch has taken place. When I did this I did get confirmation from the KC of the agreement. The registration is done on paper ,yes.

Thanks. I best get on to the KC then and query that I have heard nothing. I just checked and it's been a full month.

Well that was quick. I e-mailed the KC to ask if it had been received and they have already replied to me and said yes, received and is being processed. Exactly 30 minutes to get a reply!
Normally if a bitch is in joint name you can apply to give the other owner an interest in your affix and then the litter can be registered in your affix but with both names.
Sorry, if this is highjacking the thread slightly, but do you know if a bitch is jointly owned (and each owner has their own affix) whether you can register some/one puppy/ies under one affix and the remainder under the other? A friend has a bitch from me, under breeding terms, and I would very much like to have a pup back from her, preferably with my own affix.
Or could it be registered with no affix at all, and I just add mine as a suffix?
Thanks

If a bitch is jointly owned, you have to either register pups with no kennel name at all, or do Loan of Bitch to be able to use one of your names -it's the same scenario I am having. You will be joint breeders and there is no joint kennel name registered.
Thank you. The bitch is currently KC registered with the other party (but legally in joint ownership), but I was thinking about putting it in my name too, but it sounds like there is no point.
So, do you know if he can register the pups with his own affix, but leave one with no affix at all, or is it an 'all or nothing' rule. Sorry for the 20 questions!! I know I should contact the KC myself at some point, but just thought someone out there might already know.
Thank you again.

I know this was possible in the past, because I had friends who would register the dog puppies in a litter using the husband's affix and the bitch puppies using the wife's affix.
