My Hetty passed her GC Gold test today, hooray! It was the 2nd attempt, but the 1st one was somewhere we'd never been before as our club was having so much trouble getting an examiner and a date, and I think they made some of the exercises much harder than necessary. This test was much more relaxed - though still a fair test. I was a bit worried our 'stop the dog' wasn't good enough, but she did stop on the 2nd command and well before she reached me so that was ok. My other club is doing a test in 2 weeks, so that means the naughty youngster can have a go - she can actually do almost every exercise at least as well as Hetty (and her 'stop the dog' is fantastic!) - but she HATES being left alone and I strongly suspect the 'relaxed isolation' is going to be where we fail! But anyway, I'm very pleased Hetty passed - in fact all 6 of the dogs taking the test today were brilliant and all passed!

LucyDogs, Congratulations to Hetty, well done both of you. Good luck with the 'naughty youngster' let us know how she does, perhaps two gold stars for the Christmas tree! LOL, I'm still smiling from last week.

My sheltie Isla was one of the dogs in Hetty's group and it was her third attempt at the Gold!  The stop the dog exercise was always her bugbear - she has always had a very quick and  accurate recall and always got muddled up with the Stop! command.  However yesterday she executed that and everything else perfectly - hooray!  And I am so glad that I don't have to keep practising the stop the dog and the go to bed commands anymore.  Oh well back to the heelwork at our obedience class!

Isla had cruciate ligament surgery last summer and I never thought she would get back to doing obedience again!

She looked great! But it'll be a real miracle if Lottie gets through it in 2 weeks - that relaxed isolation will be our downfall I am sure. Just hope we do it towards the end so I can show the examiner how good she is at everything else! :-p

Congratulations to both of you....
