I have been a dyson girl for years now but have begun to find that they arnt doing the job either that or my ocd has overtaken me !

I have been looking at either sebo or miele must be an upright I cant do cylinders although I do have ahenry. also it needs to do carpets henry is fine for hard floors but nit carpets.
any thoughts anyone or indeed any others to consider ? I am a hard-core cleaner at least once or twice a day with three hairy beasts and 2 cats and a family !

Hi furriefriends

Sebo for me!  Had mine for about three years now and am absolutely delighted with it.  It is very well designed, not too noisy and really does the job on all floor types.  I am not sure it's the lightest, but it is perfectly manageable.  Although it needs a bag, each bag lasts for ages and ages before needing replacing - even if you do lots of cleaning!

I fell out of love with Dysons for various reasons (I know some people love them) and I also realised that I definitely prefer upright vacuums to cylinder types.  Just personal preference, I suppose.

Really glad I chose Sebo.  I came across them by chance, being demonstrated in-store, and i'm not sure I'd even heard of them before.  Excellent choice for me, anyway.  I understand Miele are very good too - but even dearer!

Sebo here to, had mine a good few years and it's still going strong .

I don't think they do the job either FF... Went over my stairs again and again and never picked up the dog fur so used a slicker brush and now it's all up and looking good

I can fill the dysons cylinder in one round of the house! too many dogs shedding too much hair. I have never considered a bagged hoover because I figure that I would go through a bag in just one session. What is the capacity of the bags and can you empty them and reuse them?
- By furriefriends Date 02.11.14 19:40 UTC
You cant reuse the bags and I can't remember the capacity .the bag thing is a worry from a cost point

The man and n John lewis said either sebo or meile in his opinion and in particular the sebo Felix because you can use it separately fro. The base for the stairs.he said that sebo is lighter so gets his vote

Sebo upright here too!  Quite heavy but does the job well.
Have also got a dyson handheld thingy, very convenient for a quick top up hoover before visitors arrive.

Miele allervac. Bought 2 years ago for a dog with brachial respiratory syndrome - I really feel it helped her as there is an allergen sensor on it - but is a cylinder. Apparently They have greater suction than uprights. Miele also do a range of uprights

I am a Miele geek love their stuff on my 2nd w.machine now.

Sebo here as well, although I use a cylinder, my friend had an upright which was just as good. I buy the bags from Amazon.

I'd never buy a vacuum needing a bag :( Having a hairy dog I'd fill a bag in a day when she is moulting :) It's not just the cost of the bags, but the environmental issue of not being able to reuse them which I don't like.

I love my Dyson which must be 11-12 years old now. It picks up hair without a problem and the stair carpet attachment works very well. I've no idea what current Dysons are like, so try not to think what I will replace it with when it finally dies :)

Found the Dyson power only goes off when I need to wash the filter, once I have I can no longer push it against the suction and my husband does it, I'm not silly.

Thanks people miele seems popular but I need an upright so sounds like I am leaning towards sebo. Also need to check my dyson filter brainless

The Miele C&D IS an upright
- By smithy [gb] Date 04.11.14 09:05 UTC
they do both in the cat and dog range. However they dont do bagless so i wont risk getting one as i have so much dog hair
- By furriefriends Date 04.11.14 10:09 UTC
is it ? I can only find cylinder will be looking for that too. now the dilemma is do I go with or without a bag

Guess what, my elderly Dyson DC04 has just conked out, so now on the look for a new Hoover.
I much prefer bagless so discounting the sebo and Miele for now. I've been eyeing up the dyson DC41 mk2 animal, but I've not used a dyson with the ball and not sure if I will get on with it. Also reviews are saying that they feel flimsy compared to the old ones - still got my original DC01 for hoovering upstairs. I have a golden retriever who will probably begin her extensive moult in January so a good strong pet hair type Hoover is essential.
Also looked at the Bissell range as I have their carpet cleaner which does a good job.
Anyone got any comments to make on either of these cleaners?

On my 2nd Electrolux, 1st on lasted about 10 yrs so thought I would try another. used a Dyson (used to be a home help so 'road-tested' all types) and Hated the it, I couldn't get on with the handle!
The Electrolux is bagless and has a really good suck :-) plus its a reasonable price. :-) :-)
