Hi,I have a 4 year old shetland sheepdog who unfortunately got hold of a small box of raisins out of my bag and ate them on Saturday morning( which I feel dreadful about as I had left my handbag on the floor), we very quickly got her to the vets within an hour and she had an injection of morphine to make her vomit( which she did twice),then she was taken and given charcoal and put on a drip,we had to go back and get her and take hear to vets now vets as she had to stay in and overnight rest of Saturday and Sunday and we were allowed to bring her home Monday morning, and had to take her to our own vets for blood tests which thank god all came back within normal limits.she had finished her season( lasted three weeks) the previous Wednesday, and unfortunately that evening( when she had come home I noticed a couple of spots of fresh blood,I thought maybe she had been straining as she began to have very loose stools.on Tuesday the same thing happened and on Wednesday I took her back to the vet who prescribed pro- kolin( which she doesn't like, and ID food for a couple of days, and said yes she was in season again and he thought she was completely stressed about what had happened to her.i feel dreadful that it was my fault, that she has had to go through this, and wondered if it had happened to anyone else and if so how long did the season last?,and also the diarrhoea?i will add the emergency vets where she was overnight said she barked non stop whenever anyone left where she was,and unfortunately she also lost her bark for a couple of days!!

I am so sorry to hear about your sheltie and I do hope she is feeling better now.  I had not realised how dangerous it is for dogs to eat such things as raisins although I do know they should not have Christmas cake.  She certainly has been through the mill poor girl.

I have a sheltie too, she is 6 now and she is extremely greedy and always has been.  She often has her nose in the pockets of my coat looking for treats.  I am surprised that your girl has come into season again - hopefully it won't last long - three weeks is bad enough!  My sheltie has a rather shrill bark so if yours is similar at least you had a bit of peace for a day or two LOL.

Do let us know how she gets on, bless her.  I love shelties!!!

I have had a perfectly healthy bitch bleed for 32 days from start to finish of one season, she was mated on the following one which lasted 30 days and she had a trouble free pregnancy and litter.
