I don't suppose anyone knows if there is anyone who sells these (other than the KC) or perhaps has several years worth they would sell (or even lend) me? I am looking for pastoral and working and want to look further back into my own dog's lineage.

The Kennel Clubs MyKC is probably better for that. All in one place and saves you ploughing through loads of copies of BRS.
Only thing perhaps is seeing who sold to whom and how many litters per quarter breeders have registered .

Yeah see that's what I thought too and that is what I have used so far...however, I received a slating because I hadn't bought up all the back issues of the BRS. I couldn't really see what other information would be available to me in the BRS that I couldn't find on MyKC. There isn't anything else health related published in the BRS over what is available on MyKC either is there?

Thanks :)

No-one has a right to slate you for goodness sake.

Must say MYKC is cumbersome compared to the completely open and free Finnish Kennel Club database Koiranet.

There you can look up health test results for a breed for whatever year or series of years etc.

For example we don't do Elbow scoring in my breed in the UK, and all the US results came oup as perfect on a 100+ dogs.

Looking at Koiranet I was able to look at all the years since the start of the scheme for Elbows and see if there were any worrying results re elbows, and al bar a couple scored 0, the other less than half dozen were a 1.

I have noticed that vets now seem to be trotting out ED for any front lameness, and investigations are rather expensive to then find out that it was Pano or just a knock.  It is reassuring to be able to point out that this is not an issue in the breed and perhaps conservative rest, diet etc should be looked at first before anything else.

It is rather cumbersome...was considering actually just buying several ink cartridges and printing off the health summary for all dogs in her pedigree. I think there could be a huge improvement of the KC databases it's ashame more money isn't put in to that.

I agree no one has the right but alas that is not always how it works.

I have the working and pastoral going back over 5 years. But I am reluctant to lend them out however if I can look anything up for you I will do willingly, or if you can get to me in Somerset you are welcome to have a look.

Merlot don't suppose you'd be willing to take a photo or scan in the relevant pages for alaskan malamutes and anatolian shepherds? I'd be happy to pay for your time to do so

Thanks

I don't know about 'now' because until they became more aware of Pano in Bassets at any rate, they always went to Hip or Elbow dysplasia if presented with one who was lame.   Pano of course, is easily diagosed via x-ray.  We used to have to warn puppy buyers about the possibility of this being Pano.   Thankfully now, vets are aware.

To the original topic - there is a lady who supplies me with KCBR supplements for my main breed.   I am reluctant to give you her name here, but I will PM you.

If you contact the KC Library, they will photo copy just the pages you need, so no need to buy the whole issue. It costs a few pounds....can't remember exactly..... and they'll do 10 years worth at a time. I did this a few years ago, as I am very interested in my Breeds Pedigrees, and I can now trace back to 1980.
