Dose anyone have any Happy legs that you use to teach your dog to stack I could buy off them.

Misnomer if I ever heard one.  Surely a dog should stand with it's natural balance and any device designed to make them stand unnaturally could be harmful.

If it is a simply about teaching a good stand and to have feet straight then a platform a few inches off the ground would allow the dog to stand balanced and not be able to creep too far forward.

Fully agree Brainless. A well built dog will stand correctly naturally, it is the most natural and comfortable position for them, it's just a case of teaching them to do it on command.

It's interesting to see at show how the freestaning breeds often look a lot better than those stacked by hand -they so often end up looking like rocking horses as the handlers can't see what they are doing to them.

I wouldn't use them myself, but a puppy that went to friends in the States trained on them and he loved them, he would stand on them madly wagging his tail. But I'm sure he would have learned just as well without them!

Forgot I wasn't on FB there and was trying to find 'like' to click on your comment, Barbara.

Dreadful thing, just a lazy implement for dogs not correct in conformation.

They are often used in the States to teach the dog exactly where to place the feet and get a really spot-on freestack. I know a few people who use them when grooming as well as it helps on coated dogs to get an idea of what the coat looks like when the dog is stacked up as opposed to being all over the place on the table. Personally, if I find a need for them on a smaller dog I would just use full soup cans.

My dog stand four square over the fields but when he gets in the ring he fidgets as he would rather free stand than held by the collar. Free standing is OK but he doesn't always come up on his toes as he is lazy and if you use food to encourage him he then jumps up at it.

But that's a simple training issue. Try having the food in your pocket and just touch your pocket for a start. Or a toy. Or clicker train it. Training it by making the dog scared to move (which is exactly what happy legs does, as the dog ends up scared of falling off) is nowhere near as good as training the dog to settle for a reward.
