What affiliation do Breed Clubs have with The Kennel Club and are they ultimately responsible to them for their actions.
- By LJS Date 29.09.14 10:29 UTC
Breed standards are submitted and accepted by the kennel club and any changes are subject to approval

Yes.   Not the least being the Breed Standard situation, and any shows the Club might give.   I well remember some years ago now, my main Breed Club using a ramp and a box for judging - boy did the KC not like that, any more than they did the year it was decided to hold an Open Class and a Champions Class!   That brought the KC down on the Club's neck, big time.   Breed Club shows would always be held 'under KC Rules'.  For starters.   It's to be hoped that the KC would liase with Breed Clubs however.   As in a dialogue.

Really just clarifying if there is a degree of accountability and if the Breed Clubs are answerable to anyone. Thanks everyone who replied.

They definitely are. Some time ago, it must be something like 15 years ago now, if not 20, one breed club I was a member of was found to have  broken some rules -I can't remember all the ins and outs of it but think it had to do with money and the treasurer. They lost their KC affiliation for a period of time and were unable to hold shows during that time. It was a year or two. And this was a huge, major national breed club.
