friends went on holiday about 2wks ago and left her dog with a relative. he took the dog out 3times a day and looked after her well. she came home from her holiday, got her dog back, all was well. two days ago (about 7days since she got the dog back) she began to be sick in the morning. she was sick 4times and it was white froth... she rang me and i said call the vet! she didnt and said i will see how she is later on. anyways its been two days and the dog is still being sick about 10 times a day. not eating. now trying to puke and nothing coming up. any fluids she drinks is instantly back up. has no diarrhea. and is now not her normal self which i assume is dehydration setting in. shes at the vets very soon with her.... could it be parvo? dog is fully up to date with jabs. iv never personally and thankfully came across parvo but i know the symptoms... but wondered how long they take to all kick in?

could be loads of things. quite possibly a foreign body that has been eaten and is now blocking her up. very serious and could kill if she doesn't get vet treatment asap

It sounds more like an obstruction than disease; hope the vet can sort her out quickly. At this time of year barbecues are often where dogs eat foreign bodies; corn cobs, kebab skewers and so on. :-(

I would highly recommend this person take the dog to their vets....if the normal starve for a day with only water hasnt worked, a trip to the vets is the ONLY option.

Imo this is a case for the emergency vet.
It sounds more like an obstruction or intussuception than parvo, and as such is an emergency. Parvo presents with diarrhoea and vomiting.
I hope the dog gets the right treatment and is ok.

Who old is the dog?
That's how mine started when she had parvo, no dirohia at first in fact she wasn't pooping at all and was being sick all the time. With mine she started being sick on a wensday and like u described couldn't even keep water down so off to the out of hours vet. I thought she had swallowed something at it was stuck but the vets didn't think that was the case as there was no pain when they felt her stomach. Gave her stuff to stop her vomiting and said if no better tomorrow come back it was prob a bug. Next day still the same so back to vet and again they thought a bug and gave stuff to stop vomiting and told to limit her water intact to a few laps of water at a time and gave stuff to put in the water to keep energy up, same story with Friday but had one bout of dirohia, vet thought enteritis gave stuff and said if no better comeback. Saturday had to carry her into the vet as she couldn't stand and she was admitted. They did a scan and found fluid in her but they couldn't tell if it was in the uterus or intestinal on the scan, they said they suspected pyrometra (told them she had not had first season yet) so they opened her up and found it was in her intestine and tested her for parvo and came back positive.

When I had a dog with Parvo the smell was something I will never forget, it was awful and filled the house. The smell of Parvo is truly unforgettable
thank you everyone,. turned out it was kennel cough! and possibly a bug at the same time. dog is all better now. shes 3 nd a half yrs

good news then!
