Can anyone recommend a good vet practice close to Otterburn? I don't mind travelling a little bit but don't want it too far just in case of an emergency. You can pm me if you want.

I have a fantastic vet at the moment who I really trust and have been to him for the past 7 years. That's the one negative aspect about moving!

Thanks in advance
Helen

Hi Helen

Before I moved from the North East I used The Hadrian Veterinary Group in Hexham a number of times. In particular Eric Nelson. I found him excellent, many people I knew used him for their horses but I used him for my terrier who had cancer and he was treating her with homeopathy. When I moved to Scotland and my BC got cancer I telephoned him and he remembered me. After a lengthy discussion he realised I knew exactly what was wrong with my BC having spent hundreds of pounds at the AHT, he was happy to post me out some homeopathy medicine rather than me having to make a 2 hr journey. Hexham must be about 20 miles from Otterburn so I don't know if that's too far for you. Also I haven't used this practice for about 5 years so things could have changed but I wouldn't hesitate contacting Eric again if I needed to. Their details are as follows:

The Hadrian Veterinary Group
Dene Avenue
Hexham

Tel: 01434 602703

Best Wishes. I'm sure you will love Northumberland, it's a beautiful part of the country.

Thanks Claire. I don't think it's too far - maybe half an hour which I travel at the moment to the vets.

Helen, i've used Eric Nelson as well. Extremely nice bloke. There's also an excellent vet in Blyth (it's probably a bit further), called Croft. Have used both vets and i live in the Durham area, but both were recommended.

Robson and Prescott in Morpeth....I'll confess I use them for the cats but take Taiko to the Village Veterinary centre in Cramlington as I prefer the fact they're a smaller practice and appointments are more flexible.
The Village Veterinary Centre
2 Church St,
Cramlington 01670 731 927 (24hr emer service)

Robson & Prescott
44 Staithes Lane
Morpeth 01670 512275 (24 hr surgery)

Orchard House Veterinary Centre
Hexham 01434 607677

Aln Veterinary Group = Amble 01665 713111, Morpeth 01670 512940, Seahouses 01665 721800, Ponteland 01661 871570.
Hope this helps, you should check them out for yourself, but it's always handy to keep the numbers for emergencies! Welcome to Northumberland :D

Do you know the full name of the Prescott vet ? It's just I know a vet with the surname Prescott. Haven't spoken to her for a while but I wondered if it was the same person. The one I am thinking of is called Jill.

Unfortunately doesn't sound like the person I am thinking of. Prescott is her married name and her husband is not a vet. Never mind. I was just going to say that if it was her she is an excellent vet. :-)
