Please try and settle an argument.  I thought the government had made it illegal for companies to use the 0871 number.  I cannot find any information that can prove I'm right.  I know I am.  Do you know?

Thank you everyone.  I knew there was bound to be a catch.  It's like phoning to renew the car tax.  I thought that number was free until recently.  No matter what you do there is always a con.

There's very often a different number...I always check 'No to 0870' internet site before I call premium rate numbers.
