I hope I'm posting this in the right bit - can anyone recommend a good groomer in Bournemouth please? I have a show bred ESS & I would like him to have the appropriate 'haircut' & not the usual short back & sides with long hair on the tail sort of haircut the working type springers round here tend to have. So far everyone I have asked has offered me a pet cut.

have you bred him or did you buy him in if so ask your breeder or look on the sesss site on links

I bought him & his breeder is too far away to help. I did meet Celia Woodbridge at Discover Dogs or Crufts & she gave me some tips but he never looks quite right. I don't appear to have the knack either although I have done a short grooming course (to enable me to do my dog not to become a groomer)!! I thought perhaps if I can get an expert to do him then I will have something to work with.

not as easy as it looks with an ess if you intend to show him you will need to get the right trim  Did you ook on the links i mentioned as there are a few breeders down south There is an open show on 23rd nov  at Mappleborough green village hall studley west midlands      and on that sesss site i mentioned under shows it will tell you a list of all shows If you can get to any someone will give you an idea on what is needed but as i say it just comes with pratice
good luck

I'm not intending to show him so it doesn't have to be perfect but I love the look of the show springer so would like him to look like that! I'm sure with practice I will get it but when you are only doing one dog its more difficult as you have to wait for your mistakes to grow out before you can try again! I have the print out for the cut & I also have Frances Jackson dvd so should be able to manage it eventually. Thanks for your imput.
