hi I hope this is ok to post,my bitch had bleeding at 31 days gestation,she was taken to the vets as I was very worried about this although she was her happy normal self,vets couldn't say why this was happening only that she may of been losing a pup,this continued until day 51 then no bleeding,my botch has been scanned at day 35 litter confirmed,this is her first and only litter,has anyone ever experienced this before in their bitches??

my bitch is now 53/54 days in pup,she is off her food but this has been all the way through pregnancy fussing,had a little scrambled egg,offered chicken and puppy meat but not entertained it,she is wanting to go in her whelping bed much more and settles very well,sleeping much more the last 48 hours,but is really happy in herself,a big bump though and nipples leaking a little.thanks in advance to any advice xx

No experience of anything similar in bitches, but I did once have a Persian queen who started bleeding *heavily* 5 weeks into her pregnancy. Cutting a long story short it stopped, she was put onto antibiotics and she gave birth to 3 perfectly healthy kittens at term. I can only assume she lost one kitten early on.

thanks for the reply,my vets didn't offer any antibiotics for my bitch,she just sold us some cream with antibiotics and steroid for a insect nip on her neck,this mad a rite mess of my bitches head where she lost a big flap of skin,on the advice of another vet and a bredder I bought hibiscrub cleaned the wound three times daily and stopped the cream,its healed nicely now,still some hair loss but she was shaved but healed almost.

I have only ever had one litter of pups previously different bread of dog altogether, so after my bitches pregnancy she wont have any more litters,she is a pet also,she is from polish blood lines and we used a British stud dog with no links to my bitch,we also have another bitch same breed different colour,she is also a pet due to be spayed as she has a hernia,and then we have two other pets both the same bread but not same as this.

my bitch is a breed that can be very difficult to bread and can have many complications during and after pregnancy,we are just counting down the days now and praying both mum and babys have an uneventful next week and deliver safe and well,she is kept away from my other pets and has been for the last week,and ive asked for no visitors to the home now until she has had the puppys and they are 4 weeks old,money is set aside for the chance of a c section and vets informed of edd.its just a waiting game now for us all,thanks again for advice xx

One of my girls bled from 3 weeks post mating till 3 weeks post whelping, she stayed on Synulox for the whole time and whelped a healthy litter of 7 chubby pups.

I have a toy breed that is not easy to whelp.  Just to advise you that she could easily whelp on day 56 as mine do.  I've never had a toy breed go to day 63.  I've not had a bitch with the same problem as your girl, but feel sure that I would have expected antibiotics.  Well, to be fair I would have insisted on them if the vet didn't offer. 

I only added to the thread in case you weren't aware that she could whelp this early and it would be a viable litter.

Are both parents registered? There are a lot of unregistered puppy-farmed puppies being imported from several eastern European contries and it would be awful if you'd inadvertently bought one of these to breed from.

hi yes she is registered, and I checked all paperwork out including vaccinations health test micro chip before we committed to buying her, ive seen so many horror storys about imported breeds and then spending months in kennels because they have had nothing done and have been illegally brought into the uk,i feel for anyone who this has happened to not just because of the dog being removed but the financially implications involved,my Pomeranian was also imprted from Ireland although not quite the same as Poland,we have been very fortunate with our bitch as have the owners of the rest of her litter,only one out of the eight had a slight skin condition that's healed with treatment,i hope you pet is doing well now in your home xx

There appear to be many BYBs buying cheap from Poland and using them to make money here.  Most ancestors have had no health tests and bear little resemblance to our breed standards other than they are dogs. 

I have been and got some calcium tablets today for my bitch,hopefully she will not need them once she has her pups but got incase of an emergency,im also going to collect the lactol milk and feeding bottles tomorrow also again just incase its needed,got everything else suggested all ready for her,oh need to get some ky jelly incase she needs help with one of the pups,this is suggested in the book of the bitch,any ideas where this can be sourced from?? if anyone can think of anything else I should need all help is appreciated,i didn't need all these things apart from lactol and whelping things with my cocker that was 11 years ago and she had her litter of 8 all within three hours and had no problems with her pups,thanks again in advance xx

just an update my bitch has just lost some clear mucus,she is also scratching in her whelping bed and fidgeting,we are now staying with her at all times just incase she is starting of in labour,will kepp everyone updated thanks again xx

Well you will find the KY Jelly next to condoms in any chemist or supermarket. :)

Personally I don't rate Lactol, it doesn't make sense that it could be suitable for both cats and dogs, and I would use Welpi. Have you got digital scales? I'd say that is pretty essential. Plus of course all the basics like whelping box, vetbeds, heating pad or heat lamp, lots of newspaper etc.

got scales I would go with what your recommended to use if that's what will be best for her,i wasn't sure if it would be suitable for dogs the human one,ohhhhh my may have to send hubby for that I always stay away from those isles lol,thanks again,she still hasn't had a poo wont have tuna fish tried her,going to try a small walk with her see if it helps thanks again xx

we have three lovley babys,2 boys one girl,1st two born 1 and half hours apart,the third almost 10 hours after the second,mummy and babys are doing amazing xxx
