Anyone else hooked to this on BBC2 ?
Some real tear jerkers on it, the ten year old RR with the brain tumour had me in floods, his family were so lovely.

Judy is by far my favourite student, I hope she passes, she seems like a very capable and likeable girl.

My 11 yr old BC with a brain tumour was asleep on my lap whilst we watched that episode, was very hard to watch.

I am sorry to hear that Tectona, I lost my boy to a brain tumour two years ago, hope you have a while yet .

She is doing great thanks :) just hard to watch that diagnosis process! But also nice (and not nice) in a way to see others go through it. Sorry to hear of your loss, Celli.

She is listed on the RCVS register as having qualified in July of this year. :)

Is she the 'heavy' girl because if so, she definitely gets my vote.  In fact I'd love for her to be offered a job down these parts!!  Loving her attitude and sense of humour (the rubber glove snap gets me in fits every time!!)

Yes I'm hooked all right, but horrified at all the problems so many young dogs are apparently having - and not all purebreds either!!

Did the programme give any updates on the RR? I just saw the diagnosis.

I don't think so ridgielover, other than they had opted for radiotherapy, but I may have missed a bit.

It was heartwarming to see how much the teenage son loved the dog, and his friend trying to comfort him whilst maintaining a manly exterior.

I'm not always 'moved to tears' but was over the gentle Golden (or was she a Lab, my memory) this week, who was terminal and pts.  That one really got to me.

I don't think the outcome of the RR's story was known?  Yet.

I just saw the Goldie one last night, it was heartbreaking.
But again, I'm puzzled why they didn't wait for lab results before putting him through a massive surgical procedure ?.

I also watched the final episode but am also concerned that no fine needle aspiration was done on that 'Basset' (?!!) before pts. with 'lymphoma'.   Her owner asked them if they were sure ....... but she certainly may have been well past doing anything other than what happened so perhaps the cost/delay was pointless.   And to say she only had 6 weeks to last .....?     Mine lived on with good quality life for 6 MONTHS beyond the result of the fine needle aspiration came back.   Again I suppose each case is an individual and my boy certainly wasn't 'ill'- in fact as time went on, I started to question the diagnosis he was so well, with no treatment, until the day his system just collapsed.

I think it depends with tumours.

If the presence of these is causing negative symptoms/issues that led to seeing the vet it may well be that the dog cannot continue with any quality of life.

On the other hand a friend has a dobe with skin cancer who was operated on twice to remove the initial lumps leaving skin compromised, and she will at times chew at the area if it is not covered by a teeshirt.

She has reached 14 years (not bad for a dobe when on average their hearts get them by 9).  She is more lump than dog, but fortunately fro her none of the tumours as yet have affected a major organ/body process.

My vet explained that Cancer kills because it at some points stops a vital organ/system from keeping the body going.

Finally got to see the last episode on catch-up - tears started as soon as they got their results! Fantastic series, I hope they will make another.
