I've just seen what I think/hope is an epulis in my old dogs mouth by her lower canine. It will have to be confirmed by my vet but I'll have to wait til Tuesday to find out. I'm feeling extremely nervous to the point of being tearful that she will have to have an op at 11.5 years old who is my most favourite girl and the last dog who went in for an op (different op/different vet ) died overnight at the surgery.
I just KNOW that something will need doing, and Sod's law have just cancelled her insurance!

You may be lucky :) Bramble had one a few years ago. The vet said to leave it and wait and see as Bramble was about 13. It disappeared eventually :) It wasn't between the teeth just next to a tooth.

Never had one in a dog myself but just wanted to say that I hope you find that your vet says the same as the others have experienced.  Positive vibes winging their way.

My Boxer had one years ago. I was keeping an eye on it before going to vet. I was cleaning his teeth one day when my hand slipped caught the lump and it vanished must have been popped off but no blood no sign of where it had been nothing???

Yes we've had one between teeth which bled when chewing, grew very quickly, removed & area cauterised. Sent for biopsy & thankfully all OK, was since he'd had one that he'd probably get another, thankfully 5/6 years on & no sign. Best wishes & hope all well.

Unfortunately with my Basset, the last of my line, we weren't so lucky and the tiny tumour that was found right at the back of his mouth during the 'routine dental' (if delayed while I fought for the life of his sister) proved to be a maligant one, and vicious at that.   It was removed but grew back, along with another one further forward which was far more aggressive and in the end, we had no option but to pts.  He was just over 12, but it was still devastating, especially after his sister, and he was the last.    My message is to always get such lumps checked out and asap.

This.  Yes, it might be an epulis and hopefully it is, but it might not be.  River's lump was taken off less than a week after I found it, it looked like it might be an epulis (just going by googling images) but it turned out to be a very aggressive sarcoma.  Fortunately removal was successful and it hasn't returned, although I do keep checking.
