We lost one of our Boxers in the early hours of last Monday morning at the vets, he had a heart problem, and today a week later we have lost our other Boxer with a massive tumour. Why is life so hard sometimes.
Our first had suffered with a bad heart for some time, but rapidly went down hill, so when the vet called to say he had gone it was devastating but almost not a surprise.
Our other seemed very down without his mate and we thought he was pining, but last night he had a funny turn, almost like a cross between a stroke and a fit, he didn't seem to know where he was. He perked up over night but this morning he was very unwell and not eating, so off to the vets again. We stayed there during X-rays etc only to be told he had a massive tumour in the chest cavity that had burst. We made the dreadful de decision to let him go.
At least they are together now, but life really stinks sometimes.
Can't stop crying but we all know what this is like as dog lovers. Can't write any more yet

Oh, that is so sad, two in one week, how awful for you.
Big virtual {{hugs}} coming for you

Life just stinks sometimes and is so unfair, I'm so incredibly sorry for you, the closest I've had was six months, which was bad enough, two within a week is just unthinkable.

So sorry to hear of you heart wrenching week, I do understand having lost two in nine days I have some understanding of how you must feel. There is no quick fix, nothing I can say to help, if you have other dogs to care for that helps, if not you just have to fight your way through, very hard but you will get there.

How very, very sad, sillysue.

It's dreadful to lose one dog, but two within a week ... just devastating.

Oh Sue how devastating for you.  Let the tears flow, this is such a bitter pill to swallow.

I lost 2 close together at the beginning of this year.  But then, you already know that we all know much you are hurting.

My thoughts are with you at this dreadful time.

Oh I'm so sorry, losing one is devastating but two so close together must be horrible beyond imagining. :-(

The worst we had was losing the final two of our bloodline within a year.  And before that 3 in a year but sometimes with an ageing 'population' as we had by that time, it was kind of inevitable.   And our final two were brother and sister.   I'm feeling for you - it must be dreadful to have two such losses in such short order.

Shocking.

Thank you all for your kind messages, at a time like this it really helps to be among people that truly understand how it feels. The tears have dried for the moment and I just feel numb and am getting through each hour on autopilot. It all feels unreal and I keep thinking it is just a bad dream. The minute I accept that it is for real then I feel the tears start again, so I am trying not to think and just do everything I have to do almost in a daze.

Then to finish it all off two of my rescue bitches decided to have a falling out today which is something they have never ever done before. They sleep together, walk and play together and virtually joined at the hip, but today ( perhaps because they could feel that I was weak and not giving them my full attention - who knows) they had a fight with blood everywhere. I have mopped them up, cleaned wounds thoroughly and they seem ok, just a bit sore. If I feel that any of the bites look iffy then they will be straight down the vets. I nearly walked away and said no more dogs...
At this moment they are trying to clean each other like best mates.
What next I ask !!!!

I have now found out that the fight was over ownership of a dead rabbit  - great having dogs isn't it...

So very sorry for your loss, to lose one is bad enough but two in a week !! You must be devastated.
Sending you a virtual { Hug}
- By Blay [gb] Date 26.08.14 18:47 UTC
So sorry you had to cope with a fight over a dead rabbit on top of everything else - poor you!

At least you now know what caused the scrap which is, perhaps, helpful ...  Hope the wounds heal well without any complications.  Dogs eh?!

I also lost my only 2 close together last year. Life is indeed very cruel at times, and like you - I felt disconnected and surreal. My heart goes out to you, and trouble or otherwise, I am glad you have your other dogs, they will help more than you can imagine.
