I'm looking for advice as how to best clean dog bedding? Is it ok to use normal laundry detergent?

That's certainly what we do.

Unless the dog had an allergic reaction to what your using, it shouldnt be a problem. We dont wash the dog bedding with our own clothes due to the hairs, other than it treat it like an ordinary wash. :)

ordinary bio washing powder, unless allergic :-D  Gets rid of smells to :-D

Vac it, wash it as I would clothes but with an extra rinse then out to dry or if it's very hairy in the dryer as it seems to 'pull' the hairs off.

Shake well to get rid of some fo the hair/dirt then wash in washing machine with bio washing powder and some Zoflora disinfectant. 

Then after wiping out the hair in the drum door and seal put the machine on a short wash cycle before doing a human wash. This is to prevent all our clothes getting even hairier than normal.

I use mistral odour fresh in my doggy wash.  It kills bacteria and smells lovely :-)

Wash as normal but we use horsewear wash bags that reduce hairs going into the machine.
