For those who remember me (I don't post that often anymore but still visit for a read now & then) - I lost my lovely little scruffy crossbreed Stitch from a heart problem a few years ago. Well, me & OH have decided after a LOT of thinking that we're finally ready for another dog, and have applied for a lovely Bulldog via a breed rescue! We've always loved bull breeds so it seemed an obvious choice.

We're waiting now to hear when we can be home checked & hopefully welcome a new dog sometime soon! We've applied for a lovely looking 3 year old Bulldog boy who is described as a very happy & active character - please join me in keeping everything crossed, as apparently this breed rescue have more homes available than dogs waiting. It feels like we've put in a new job application :)

Once we've found the right dog, I'll make sure I come & 'introduce' them to everyone on here :)

Ooh good luck Claire, it's always very exciting preparing for a new arrival. Looking forward to hearing further instalments.

Fingers crossed! And although it makes it harder for you, how lovely to hear of a breed rescue having more homes than dogs available!!

The wait might hopefully be over soon!

We applied for a dog and unfortunately weren't successful (we were deemed too far away & there were more suitable homes in his local area - quite fair I thought) but have since applied for another Bulldog boy and have found out we've been shortlisted as a suitable home for him :) We're awaiting his full details by email so we can learn a bit more about him, and then if we want to still go ahead, it's just a homecheck before we can meet him!

I'm sure we'll do OK on the homecheck; the garden is fully secure with 6 to 8ft fencing all round, one of us at home all day, not overly houseproud :) but if anyone can offer any advice on things that a homechecker might be looking for, any pointers will be gratefully received.

We brought our lovely Bulldog boy home on Saturday! He's 2 years old (nearly 3) and is gorgeous.

He's a very sweet boy, if a little bouncy as he settles in :) It's like having a 25kg rubber ball in the house, but he does alternate between bouts of activity & then snoring!

I think I've managed to put a photo on the link here...

Thanks everyone, we're very much in love with him already :)

He does need a bit of work so he learns to greet people 'politely' - at the moment it's a bit like being hit with a furry, slobbery cannon! The basic commands all seem to be understood though & he walks beautifully on lead (& off). Training classes will begin shortly :)
