Hi
I have my first open show tomorrow at March, Cambridgeshire with the East Midlands Canine Society. I entered through Fossedata but have not had anything through the post. Does that mean I collect my number and catalogue on the day? Is there a main desk I go to to do this or do you check in at the ring? Thanks in advance

At Open shows you will go to the desk (usually a table somewhere looking official) and collect your catalogue. Sometimes the ring number will be with the catalogue but more often than not you look your number up in the catalogue and tell the steward when entering the ring, and he or she will then give you the number and tick you off as being present in the class.

Have a good day and most important don't leave the dog at home!! Friend and I set off from Scotland to Leeds Championship Show. Luckily we realised before the end of her road that we had no dogs. Each thought the other was putting them in the car <blush>

Hahaha. Cava for my first show I wrote a list of everything I would need to remember at silly AM in the morning. OH said dont forget to write on the list DOG! Good job we did - I think I packed everything got in the car, checked the list and though DOH, Dog! Haha!
Have fun! :D
Thanks Goldmali for the info :) I have a list too, have just added the dog to it! It's an evening show, I've got all day to get organised so hopefully won't forget anything!
Another question.... How early should I get there? Judging starts at 5pm and I'm in AVNSC Working which is the 3rd class.

If you're in the third class of the evening you need to be there and settled in good time for the start of judging. Think you have to get in from the car park, find a spot, get your catalogue and settle the dog. It's not great for the dog to dash in with no time to settle. Have a great night and good luck. One last thing to remember, you always take the best dog home. :)

Thank you, will post tomorrow night and let you know how we get on.

If its your first I would certainly get there by start of judging (if not the 30 mins before if it opens early, some open an hour before). Just to get yourself and your dog used to the environment. And theres nothing worse than not having a clue where your going to get catalogs, numbers etc and trying to keep and eye on the rings at the same time for your turn! As you go to more shows youll get an Idea of how much time you need to get yourself and dog in the zone :P
AVNSC working puppy and best puppy :)
great result well done :)
have you entered anymore?

Good one! :)

Well Done!!
Yes, I'm entered in the open at Thetford next Sunday if I can find someone to come with me. Then there's nothing that's reasonably local until Boston in January.
well hope you do well again, if i was more local would come along but am miles away :(
are you going to start championship shows?
I have just started with my rottie have been to 3 shows all championship got 2nd in puppy bitch at my last show qualifying us for crufts am over the moon.
That's amazing well done:) I imagine it's quite hard to qualify for crufts with a Rottie as it's quite a big breed. My girl is a dogue de bordeaux so small classes, we were spectators of the east of England show this year and there were hardly any dogues :(
Yes, we're planning on the boston show in January 2015 as our first champ show. In the mean time we'll do a couple more opens and ringcraft every week.
There is usually around 7/8 in my class and in between 60 and 80 per show. My friend Roxanne van der vilet shows Bordeaux with her mum they are doing really well with some homebred pups at the moment :)
good luck may see you around at some shows soon i am at Bournemouth on Sunday and will be her last puppy class so fingers crossed for a 1st :)

Woo hoo well done! I'll be at Thetford next Sunday with a bunch of mad Cavaliers, might see you there!
