I've been looking for a simple recipe for cheese bread, I've found a nice sounding American one, although it does contain 5 TBLS of sugar, I can easily leave that out, does anyone have any UK recipes that don't have milk and butter and hell knows what else Americans like in their bread ?.
I'm not sure if I can just make a normal loaf and add cheese, I rather think it wouldn't rise properly.

I don't have any specific recipes but I don't see why your idea wouldn't work, i.e. to add cheese to a normal loaf recipe.

However, don't omit the sugar entirely because that's what activates the yeast :-)

Also, I'd use a 'non-oily' cheese I think.

Actually, you've got me thinking now, lol!  Why not use a cheese scone recipe and modify that to bread flour?

A friend kindly asked around and found me a receipe, which is a basic bread mix, it was really the amounts of cheese to mix I was stuck on, as I suspect if I used to much cheese, the bread wouldn't rise properly.
I couldn't believe the amount of sugar in American receipes, bleugh !.

I saw that one, but the 25 minutes kneading put me off.
