I have a 13 month old cholcolate labrador (Dempsey) who has had a serve limp for 4 months now. We have had him to the vets and to see a specialist numerous times and no-one can tell us what the matter is with him. They say that nothing is showing on the x-rays that have been taken. They are not even sure where the problem lies i.e. elbow, leg or shoulder. He has had fluid taken from his joints and I am still waiting for the specialist to get back to me with the results. They have ruled out OCD, 'Pano', arthristis etc

In the meantime we have been told to rest him without any walks. We have already rested him for nummerous months and if anything he is getting worse. He has just finished his rimadyl which I am not keen to keep giving him.

Has anyone else had this problem - is it growing pains and he will grow out of
them or is it something more sinister?

He wants to walk and play with his brother (Cooper). In fact Cooper doesn't like walking without him.

I have had very good results with acupuncture treatment from a vet who specialises in it. If you e-mail me, I can give you her name. She lives in Sussex - if you're any distance she can give you a local person, I'm sure.

A pup I know has problems with her front leg and it turns out that it is because of one bone growing quicker than the other, she is now booked in for a operation next week to correct the problem. Thankfully she is in no pain.
