Has anybody experienced this with one of their dogs.
We have a 14 month old pup that has been diagnosed and is currently being treated.
We seem to have caught it very early and hope that the treatment is successful the vet has been quite honest with us and has hit the treatment full on but any advise or past experience would be appreciated.

I am sorry to hear that you pup has IMHA, we had a dog diagnosed with this over 7 years ago, unfortunately even though our vets used the newest available treatments at the time we lost him after 5 days, but he did have it severely.
Hopefully there will be a much better outcome for you as I am sure treatments have moved on the the last 7 years. From what I remember there is was quite an active Yahoo group for owners of dogs with IMHA that might be worth  you looking at.

I have no experience with IMHA but have 2 dogs with auto immune disease, CIMDA are incredibly helpful and knowledgable

I have just had a message from one of our puppy buyers (puppy is now 2 years old) to say that the little girl has some Auto Immune problem. I have called her (no answer) and her vet (going to return my call). Have never had any problems before and her mum has had 3 litters previously (now retired). We do have her sister but obviously will now have her neutered. Would this affect other siblings?

There is nothing to say your bitch or other siblings are affected, or that it is hereditary.

Auto immune issues if they are cropping up with a pattern maybe hereditary, but so much we put on/in or expose our dogs too (often inadvertently like agricultural pesticides etc) can cause immune issues.

I certainly would not be spaying your bitch until I had investigated other relatives and found out the relative frequency of these issues within your breed and similar lines.

Of course if she is not crucial to your breeding program being over cautious won't hurt.

Pm sent. My 3 year old doberman was diagnosed with this damn thing last October. She is doing well now but I worry constantly.

The good news is that he is still with us and battling it with an improved blood count last Friday, fingers crossed it keeps going the same way.

She is pretty important Brainless, but not prepared to take the risk.

I had a friend terminate many generations of breeding as one of her puppy owners dog had fits, turned out to be a Brain tumour and not hereditary epilepsy, byt the tiem she knew this she ha.
