Brooke flat coat has fairly recently had an ear problem now sorted. SHe does still scratch aronund her neck and shake her head more that I would like. I have just returned from the groomers who mentioned a patch of dandruff very dry and scale around her neck under her ear.
Vet didn't see this when he gave thorough examination of her last week and nor had I it was just my lovely groomer lady.
Anyone ideas as to what to do. Nothing else on nor is she generally itchy
Do I go back to the vet or could this be reaction to all the ear creams that she had to use> If I can treat this myself I would prefer. I have colloidal silver spray ?

any thought please

I took a youngster for jabs tonight and mentioned her dry skin and shampoos I thought I might try.

Always trying to save me money, as I spend so much there, my vet said I could sell you oils to put on her food, but you could sort it much cheaper.  He told me to put a teaspoon of sunflower oil on her second meal each day.  I have it in the cupboard.  Job sorted.

If they let you, you can also rub coconut oil in to a dog's skin.  Try on a small patch and check for a reaction. I doubt there'd be any but just to be safe. This oil is used topically to promote hair growth.

>put a teaspoon of sunflower oil on her second meal each day.

Why the second meal? is there any reason it cant go in the first? and is that dosage for a small dog? what would be right for a 40kg dog? thanks

Mine only have one meal so it will go in that :)

Sorry, tiny breeds have a minimum of 2 meals a day.  And second meal was just my choice, sorry about that.

The teaspoon was for a 2.5kg dog.

I guess your large breed would need a tad more.  But, if it was one of my large dogs I think I would only give a couple.
