I have a 14 yo dog. Over the last few months his rear end has been getting progressively weaker. He struggles to get up sometimes especially in the living room which has cushion floor, and falls over more easily. He is happy in himself and doesnt seem to be in any pain.  Is there anything that can be done? I havent been to the vets yes as he is not ill as such.

Take him to the vet. There are several medications that could help him be more comfortable in his final years, and you might be surprised at the difference they make to his quality of life.

I bought lots of large Dirt Trapper mats and put them on my lino in the kitchen and put rugs on my wooden floor in the hallway as my old boy found that a bit slippy. Perhaps you could consider that?
