Today i went to visit a friend witha  6 week old litter as im planning to buy one for the showring.Whilst playing with them i noticed 2 had hair loss on their tails,their breeder hadnt noticed.The adult are treated with advocate and havent shown any signs and their puppy pen is immaculate.Any ideas as to what this could be?While i was there one of the bossy pups kept chomping on the other pups tails and wondered if thats what it could be.They are going to the vets on monday.

The pups went to the vet today had a skin scrape and it as clear but vet as a precaution gave her advocate for the pups but they are just 6 weeks.one pups tail has lost more hair over night and i have a litter myself and am worried the vet might have missed something and i will pass this on to my own pups.Any advice appreciated x

Did you, when you got home, wash your hands very carefully prior to touching your own pups?

Something I would be doing anyway with a litter on the ground.

When I had pups and wanted to resume ringcraft, I wouldn't even go into the pups until I had changed clothes.

And wiped my shoes in a parvocide.

Yes i did i always do anyway even if i havent seen other puppies.I do however need advice about this for my friend and myself.Can a skin scrape results be wrong? Can puppy advocate be given at 6 weeks rather than 7 weeks if puppy is over 1kg,my friend is going crazy with worryand i need to know too if i am to buy a puppy.Has anyone ever had a litter that have lost tail hair.My friend says they are constantly pulling on each others tails so could this be it?  x
