I have someone in the USA wanting to take one of our puppies. He last imported a puppy 15 years ago and I've never exported one, so neither of us know exactly what to do. He's telling me one thing...but his info is 15 years old...and friends are telling me another, so between us we are getting really confused. I've looked on the internet and I think my mind is about to explode with all the technical info.

What I need is for someone to tell me in good old plain English, how you go about it. The KC are sending the forms I need, but what else do we need to do,
What vaccinations are required and how old do they have to be etc He wants to come over and collect Puppy in person and needs to arrange Hotels and return flights etc.

The puppy was born 10 June.

Here you go: http://www.cdc.gov/animalimportation/dogs.html

Easiest if pup is under 3 months, though no proof of Rabies vaccination is needed from a Rabies free country.

Thanks

Yeah, it's the Rabies Vaccine that is stumping us at the mo, getting lots of different answers!

If it comes from UK doesn't need it, if it's under three months doesn't need it.

I sent to Arizona last year, rabies not only required but advised.
She couldn't fly during the hottest months so retained until October.... Went on 1st first flight allowed.

Best to ring the experts ..Ryslip. They know all the current legislation, handle all the paperwork, flights, liaison with the client and give first class service.

I won't get involved with a DIY export any more.... I leave it to experts.

I think it may vary with some states that are high risk, like ones near mexico

We export very frequently to the USA. You will need a veterinary health certificate (fitness to fly) and an acclimatisation cert issued by your vet. No rabies needed but we advise owners to get done as soon as they have pup/dog.
We use Duncan at Skymaster Aircargo in Manchester, half the price of everything else and excellent service

Canada you need rabies and health cert.
Europe
Pet passport
Rabies (21 days prior to export)
and page 28 stamped by your LVI vet on pet passport.

Hope this helps
