A friend of mine has 3 dogs, a Labrador, Pug cross and a young Coton de Tulear. I groom the Coton and have always found fleas on him. He has been treated with Frontline, is on Comfortis and wears a Scalibor collar. Nothing seems to stop these fleas. He never seems to have bites on him but she just cannot rid him of fleas. As he is on so many chemical treatments I suggested bathing him in the natural treatment of vinegar and shampoo which she said was great as they were dying on him as she was bathing him but she was shocked at how many fleas came of him and said it looked like she had disturbed and ants nest. The very strange thing is that the other dogs do not seem to be getting these fleas. She does not have a cat, any suggestions please.

He is obviously re-infesting himself, so she needs to treat the environment with a product with insect growth regulator.

I also know someone with a coton who has problems with flea's ,  they must like either the coat or the taste of the dog.
I have a fluffy mainly white breed and he is the only one i find flea's on. not the other breeds i own

I wonder if it's the bright white coat that attracts them. Sorry I'm not much help am I.

Valid points and interesting that another Coton gets them too. Really wondered why it only seems to be him that gets them.

I know Barbara but she has a pug cross which is far lower, so don't know the answer. She is bombing (flea not anything too explosive honest) and taking it from there. Interesting though that the vinegar and shampoo natural treatment did kill them off when he was bathed in it. Good to know. She did say that he smelled like a chip shop for days LOL

My 2 blenheims always seem a bit itchy, I bath them in flea shampoo, use spot on and treat the house, but occasionally I find a flea on them and clearly their skin is irritated by something. The other 2 dogs never seem to have a problem. The vet is baffled! Think I'll get some more Frontline spray next time I'm heading that way.

Our Tibetan Terrier was a complete flea magnet!

I've never seen a dog so attractive to fleas either before, or since.   It didn't matter how often he was treated, he would soon be covered again.

Interesting about the white coat comments, he was white with light grey patches.

I had thought that it was maybe a Tibetan Terrier 'thing' ?

Not sure if this helps but my vet mentioned that some dogs develop immunity to the spot on that is regularly used. I used frontline from birth but my boy developed huge itchy patches on his chest at 4 years. After some detective work we decided to switch to advocat. It cleared up in a few days and he's been fine since.
