Topic Dog Boards / Health / Raw feeding and ear problem

Last year, our little cocker was sedated to have a very large grass seed removed from her ear.  She has suffered no problems since.

However, a couple of days ago we came home and she was shaking her hear and scratching at her ear. Took her straight to the evening emergency clinic thinking it was another grass seed. Turned out it was a perforated ear drum. :( the vet said because of the grass seed from last year, she probably has a very sensitive ear canal.  She said excessive shaking of the head (which she doesn't do at all) or pressure on her ears can cause the ear drum to perforate.

My worry and my question (finally getting to the point lol) is that since changing to a fully raw diet 3 weeks ago  she has obviously changed the way she eats, much more chewing, on bones etc and I worry that this could have caused this issue as she does seem to knaw and chew on that side.  I may be completely wrong and I am so happy with how she is looking, skin, coat, weight etc that I don't want anything to change.

Any advice very welcome

Thank you
Ali :)
