my girl is on day 64 of her 2nd pregnancy. Her last litter arrived dead on day 63 and was a text book whelping of 6 puppies. She seems happy and content,I can still see the pups are very lively, how long should I leave her past her due date before I should start to worry?

Thanks for that. No,used a different stud this time, otherwise, everything's the same.I rang my vet this morning, she said so long as there's no discharge (none),excessive panting (none)and I can feel the puppies moving (all the time!) then to leave her another 24hrs.She's just been out for wee and poo(normal)and had a drink of water, now back to sleep. She's as calm as anything, unlike me!!!

I know that you can't say what breed, but is it a toy, medium, or large breed.  The answer has a great bearing on this.  I would never leave one of mine as late as day 63.  Advice will be dependent on breed.

> I rang my vet this morning,

From all the things I've read on this forum over the years I'd be asking your breed mentor for advice, rather than a vet.  Vets simply do not have the necessary experience in this area and I've heard a lot of horror stories about waiting too long

Good luck

hi everyone.Well I took madam to see the vet yesterday morning. He said all was fine, felt internally and said the cervix was still closed, but him sweeping round it could be enough to induce labour.Within 2hrs she started the 1st stage, digging her bed, crying and panting. This only lasted 30mins before she started straining.2.5hrs later,we have the most beautiful litter of 3girls and 2 boys. All have gained weight this morning and are content, mum is doing an amazing job.
