Also do you count the day of mate as 1st day as she was mated late evening ?

when I had one xrayed for numbers in pregnancy they didnt use any sedative at all. I count the day of mating as day one but dont know what others do. has your vet scanned? are there any heartbeats? i would have thought that should be done before xrays as xrays can onlty see the skeletons and cant tell if pups alive.

A scan at this stage isnt going to show all heart beats ,im seeing movement still shes vety happy and still eating well i want to make sure thers not a large pup stuck holding things up ....but she could only be 59 by 2nd mate her mum had her litter later rather then early....iv spoke to the breeder in depth just now she said she sounds fine and very normal to her...i always get very stressed at this time but try not to let my girl see it :/

As day 59 would be a totally viable birth I would go ahead with the x-ray.  I held my bitch, no sedation, but it picked up the fact that 2 pups were jammed in the same uterine horn, side by side.  My bitch was never going to get them down by herself.  So a C-section was the way forward.  If you know pups are alive, an experienced vet will tell from the x-ray if a big headed pup is too big for a natural delivery.  I have never had any trouble with x-rays on a bitch so would say go ahead.
