Hello
Could anyone give me some advice on greyhounds and cats. I am considering getting a greyhound puppy but I have two cats, and I have read conflicting views on the safety of keeping greyhounds and small furry animals in the same household! Thank you very much. Cheryl.

Thanks again, Archer
I have checked out the site and got some valuable links including 'cat training' your greyhound. I'm giving it serious consideration. Best wishes - Cheryl.

Cheryl we had a Greyhound and cats and everything was fine. They got on great. Also you have on your side your Greyhound will be a pup. Ours was rescued after racing and poaching.
If you want a Greyhound go for it, they make remarkable pets.

I brought my greyhound bitch home at 15 months when she failed to make the grade on the track. I had a cat and they got on fine so long as the greyhound did as the cat told her to!!!! Shera is now 13 and owes me nothing. She has been a wonderfull companion and auntie to my whippets and IGs over the years.

Hi Cheryl,

We bought a Greyhound bitch from a rescue centre. She was at least two years old when we had her. At first she was highly interested in the cats and wanted to chase them but gradually over a few weeks she calmed down and she made a wonderful pet. We had her for ten years til she passed away last year and found her to be a very loyal (but very lazy!!) and kind dog. Good luck and enjoy your puppy !

Sarah.

Thank you all for your encouraging replies. I'm in touch with a rescue centre near me and I'm going to visit them soon.
