Topic Dog Boards / Health / CVS vets ?

I've just found out that my vets has been taken over by CVS. Has anyone any experience of a similar takeover and how did it affect the practice ? They seem to own 250 practices. My preferred vet has retired so I will have to see a new vet when I take Bramble in. My neighbour uses the same practice and was satisfied when she was there recently so, hopefully, everything will be OK. It's a pity as our vet was very good with Bramble and I felt confident with his advice :(

The one I use to go to is a cvs one. They are cheaper than my local vets and there out of hours service was great when we needed it and I liked how there is ment to be staff there 24/7 for the animals staying over and cant fault how the staff treated my pets. But I would think this all would varie from practice to pratice. However they wouldnt order in New things that arnt on there normal stock list, I wanted them to get in that in-house titre test but they said they couldnt as they have no say in ordering New things like that only the head office can do that.

From what I've Hurd they like the staff to do extra training and they have a discount for assured breeders on certain heath tests.

All though they are cheaper then my local one I now go to another vets in the next town as there prices are higher than my new vet who is a single vet pratice.
My new vet I had my dog x rayed for a few things, hips + hip scouring, both back legs and spine, + knocking her out to do them and it was a total of around £129, the other vet (the cvs one) I was quoted £140 to do 2 of the one leg (why 2 I don't know I only wanted 1 of each back leg).

Thanks - interesting. I'll see how we go with the new vet. I had found the prices reasonable before, although fortunately we hadn't had  much experience other than annual boosters and some tests.
