I want to bath the pups for the first time, because of coarse the mum is not cleaning them any more, what is the best type of puppy shampoo to use that wont irritate the pups skin?

personally I wouldn't bath them but if I felt the need to clean them

I would wipe them with clean warm water on a flannel
Thats all I did as well Sam. Just plain warm water usually after a feed & a rub with a dry towel. :)
Christine, Spain.

Iuse a flannel wetted with Baby Bath liquid squirted in some water! This is the liquid that you can bath a baby in and doesn't need rinsing.
It cleans them up nicely if they have been toddling about on wet concrete outdoors, as you can gurantee visitors will pick them up, and get stinky feet plonked on their faces! :D

How about using those 'wet wipes' sold in pet shops. Pups will stay dry and get clean :)

I used Johnsons baby wipes - they're a lot bigger than the pet wipes and they smell nice too!!

Hi Tazzy
I usually bath mine about now in the sink..with baby shampoo.
But I only suggest doing this if they will be nice and warm afterwards...

I bath young pups with baby shampoo too but it is vital that they are dried thoroughly.

I soak a towel in warm water with infa care .
I wrap them in the warm towel and gently rub untill clean then a quick dry with hair dryer and that seems to work
Mari

Baby shampoo or washing up liquid is what I use.

Thanks so much everyone with your replys, i never thought to use baby wipes, great idea :) I wouldn't be so worried about bathing them, but they make such a mess @ meal times and then when they use th bath room, they seem to find their way through it :(
Thanks Tazzy

Tazzy,
I really wouldn't bother bathing them at this time, because as soon as you have them nice and clean they will poop again and roll in it. The 5 -6 week age is the messiest. They just love to roll around in the poop.
You just have to grin and bare it. Aren't they cute???? And stinky???!!?!!

Do you think you could give older pups a quick rub over with baby wipes or do you think it would ruin their coats.??
Pup has a lovely shiny coat at the moment although on occassion he does smell a bit doggy like - i know baby wipes are meant to be gentle but what do you think ?

I honestly woudn't think that baby wipes would ruin the coat, only make the pup smell more like a baby:)

Hi Carissa,
Your right they are hard to keep clean at he moment, so i did get some baby wipes. Whats good is, they sleep on one side of the kennel and poo on te other, makes it much easier to clean, indeed they are cute as a button...:) :) :)
I sit and watch them for hours at a time
