As a groomer I am on my feet all day therefore it is not surprising that my ankles swell. However I have noticed that one swells more than the other. This morning I noticed it was markedly swollen even when I had just got up. I think it is fluid as when pressed the dent remains for a little time. It also feels slightly odd at times. Not painful. More a sort of pressure thing. I have had to get bigger shoes as I cant bear anything tight on that foot. The elastic in socks is a problem too. It seems such a minor thing I don't like to bother my doctor. Does anyone on here know anything about ankles? Thanks very much
Would get it checked out it by your GP could be that your veins aren't working as efficiently as they should.
Or it could be an indicator that another health issue is occurring and the ankles swelling is a symptom
(my mum's ankles swelled badly but hers was down to her heart and also venous insufficiency)
The tightening could be fluid build up
You may need to wear compression socks/tights to help.
The Dr's may give you a MOT just to check symptoms out and rule out causes etc, always better to be proactive now rather than leave it
so that you can't do much to help later.
I got this last year (swollen ankles) and have been tested, I have venous insufficiency (I also have the classic freckle like pigmentation staining on my calves) I have had to do the dopplor every six months and have to wear made to measure compression socks to help.
Although it's a bit restrictive the compression socks do help with minimising the swelling.
