what a refreshing change to see that in the 4 placings in the gundog group that only one was a shch  WONDER WHY!!! maybe not a uk judge??

I think it has more to do with the breed judges and current state of the breed, if the judging is honest and the up and coming youngster that aren't YET champions are given their due, that's what the Group judge will have in their Group!

Call me thick but I don't understand why you are so thrilled about this? What is it about  these non champion dogs that you like so much?

There is a difference in gundogs between a ShCH and a CH. The Champion status is only awarded to those who are also working champions, a ShCH has only won its title as a show dog. I assume the OP was stating that there were more Champions (ie working/showing ) than ShCH ( Just shown  in conformation )

Actually, only the group winner was a SH CH, places 2-4 are not CH or SH CH.

I don't think that's the last you'll hear of either the Spin or the GWH Pointer.
Loved them both.
Even top winners have to have their first group appearance.

Love that Spin, been in a few all breed groups with him and his young handler is a credit to him and the breed.

I thought that Sh Ch became Ch if they gain the Show Dog Working Certificate, which I believe any Gundog can take. I didn't think that the dogs had to win a Field Trial Championship

I think they have to have won at shows first -a CC.

You are right Tommee, they don't have to be dual champions. I think they can also be awarded dogs at working tests/field trials to qualify as a full Ch (as well as being Sh Ch of course).

Not a CC just having qualified for Crufts I am now told

I think it's having to win a first place at a champ show with CC's on offer.

I've checked with the KC rules & it says simply qualified for Crufts
