We've got a girl coming to our male he knows what hes doing hes never missed ,this girl is maiden ...our boy has only ever mated maindens, shes day 15 and still not letting him close to her ,i can see from what my boys doing shes not ready but i know shes close as he is starting to foam at the mouth shes runing round him but snaps and crys if he goes clise to her hez not even getting close to mount her ....but shes crying at home as the bitches owner as her own male and today let him jump on her while the owner was there they are kept separate all the time and in different kennels theres no way they can get together but im wondering if she is ready but only want the male at home ? As anyone come across this ?....

Most bitches will let a familiar dog mate them even if they are not ready -hence you often see them mating with neutered dogs they live with up to a week before an experienced stud dog will mate them and they will allow it.

Thankyou yes this is what i was thinking but needed reassuring ....owner of the bitch is getting a little worried she not let him we dont force a mating here only assist if needed but until shes allowing not much to do :)

In my limited experience I have found that once ovulation occurs a bitch will be desperate to mate anything - even a gate post were it possible!

The test is the best way to know when she's ready.

They came back tonight still no mate but her tail did rise alittle shes booked in for a progesrone test now results same day so thats good shes day 16 im thinking Thursday/ Friday but we will soon now no :)
