Hi,
Could anyone please tell me a bit about the Dalmatian Society?
My friend telephoned me as someone had asked if they could use her lad at stud, they then went on to say that they had had problems finding a stud dog as other stud dog owners been members of the Dalmatian Society and as she wasn't a member couldn't put their dogs to her.
As I breed Scotties I haven't been able to help my friend much. She doesn't want to put her dog to stud but is now intrigued and wants to find out about the Dalmatian Society.

I've never heard of the Dalmatian Society - are you UK? There are various breed clubs - the British Dalmatian Club, North of England Dalmatian Club and the Dalmatian Club of Scotland - but not the Dalmatian Society!

Members of all the clubs can use their dogs at stud on any bitch they choose - but care is taken that non-club members agree to abide by the Code of Conduct for breeders. If the bitch owners weren't happy with this - or if the bitch didn't fulfil the criteria - then I can understand they wouldn't let their dogs be used!

I'd be interested to hear the reasons!

Yep I am in the UK. I couldn't find anything on the web on the Dalmatian Society, only the different breed clubs.
It confused my friend as well, I suggested to her that the person she was speaking to have got the name confused, and that if other people didn't want their dog to be used on her bitch, that there was probably a reason and she shouldn't consider it either.
