the pups are now 5wks nd a couple of days old..... my bitchs discharge has been difference since she got pregnant... she had a mucus discharge from being 3wks pregnant and it would happen a couple of times a week where it could just come out... then as she got further into the pregnancy the mucus discharge got more regular and became everyday.... it was the same after the bleeding stopped after birth.... a mucus discharge, clear mucus. but then this morning it was dark red all of a sudden..... her cycles are generally 9 months apart and its only been 3 and a half months since she last came into heat..... what could this be?

There is quite often some post-whelping discharge going on, but if this, with your bitch, has suddenly started too be blood coloured, at this point I'd be concerned and at least speaking to a vet.   I hope she'll be okay but I'd certainly not just leave this.
