Hi,
Does any one attend an agility or flyball club in the South East/London? My pup is too young yet, but I am hoping to visit a few clubs first to see what they are like and also to gain some knowledge myself before I add the dog to the equation! :D I have been to the Agilitynet site (its great) but some of the clubs have no telephone number and do not reply to emails (might be old addresses).
Thanks
Nicola & Jay xx :)

Did post a question a while ago, but had no answers. Does anybody have any views on the risk of RSI (Repetitve Strain Injury) with flyball. We were interested in doing it, but the instructors at our training club are very anti because of RSI. Haven't been able to find much out about it.

Hi Daisy,
There must be someone out there!! :)
Just checked on internet for you, only thing I could see on Flyball safety was this from agilitynet : "The British Flyball Association have lowered the maximum height of jumps to 14ins from 16ins for safety reasons. I don't know how well this was argued or if any research was carried out. A BFA flyball dog may have say 15 runs in a day's meeting, eight jumps each run = 120."

My "old" dog (31/2 yrs) does scent hurdling, which covers the four jumps, like they do in flyball. Our jumps tended to be quite low because we had a miniature daschund(sp?) taking part! Ben, however, clears the jumps with several inches to spare, having been born with springs in his feet, it seems:D
Good luck with your hunt for a club.

Also, have you tried
here. There is a discussion board (not as active as this!) where you could ask about RSI?
I'm sure that on the Agilitynet site (it's great isn't it? :) ) there was some articles about injuries, or maybe warming up (a hot subject of mine) and thus hopefully preventing injuries. I seem to recall mention of animal chiropractors or similar, and that some people with sporting dogs visit them regularly for massage etc. It may be worth looking for information along these lines......
