My border collie bitch is 4 weeks pregnant (hopefully pregnant!), however for the past week she has been very off her food, which is normally a sign of pregnancy. We started given her liver, chicken and rice to get her to eat, however she keeps being sick and having bad diarrhoea, and sometimes refusing to eat anything at all. She has always been slightly fusing with her food but never this bad. Her nipples are slightly pink and enlarged, and she is being very needy. I'm just worried about the sickness and diarrhoea, is this sometimes normal for a bitch 4 weeks in.

Keep an eye on her and if it doesn't improve bring her back for tests

Liver can certainly cause diarrhoea if too much is fed, and some dogs cannot tolerate rice at all so I would cut that out and see what happens with just chicken for a few days, then back to vet.

She hasn't eaten liver now since Friday night, and just been on chicken since, but this morning still had very bad water like diarrhoea. Could the liver still be in her system and be causing it?

does she normally eat a chicken based food?

If not try white fish (you can get the value fillets in most supermarkets)  cook this and serve with mashed potatoe, that will exclude both chicken and rice in case either of these is the issue.

yes its was the same with my bitch (chihuahua) shes always been very fussy with food but during her pregnancy it was sickness and bad diarrhoea on and off. the sickness only happened about twice but the poops was very few days and often it stunk!
shes perfectly fine now.... pups are almost 4wks old
