I have two bull mastiff bitches and one now needs a muzzle. Should we put a muzzle on the other one aswell to make them equal when they are out and about ? Will the other one feel inferior or will one think they are higher without it ? They will be living together for the first time in a few days. They haven't seen each other in about a year but they had a good relationship before although they have never lived together. The dog who needs a muzzle is the newcomer. Help !
There is no need to muzzle the other one to save the feelings of the muzzled one. Dogs don't think like that. Speaking from experience I walk one muzzled dog with other unmuzzled dogs and they don't notice the difference. Neither does the one who has to stay on the lead seem to care that the others are off lead.
I agree with Smithy, once they are used to a muzzle it makes no difference to them. For many years my top dog was muzzled outside, he never lost stature because of it.
