
It's a tricky one when they are old but not impossible. Opi was with Axa until last year, when my income took a nosedive due to injury and her policy lapsed. They'd stopped doing new policies by then, so I had to look elsewhere and the only people I could afford were Animal Friends. The excess is steep for oldies (£99 + 35%, or £69 + 35% if you pay a few quid more) but they do cover them. She was 10 when her policy started and there are a few levels of cover - she's on the middle one with £2k per condition per year up to £20k, there are two or three higher levels though. So not bad cover for an older dog, it's just that excess that gets you but then, a lot of companies will add a percentage.
