Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / A.i - recommended clinic in south east
- By Ghost [gb] Date 17.03.14 09:24 UTC
Hi all,

We travelled last season to Ireland with our bitch, and were sadly unsuccessful. This time round we are planning on doing A.i - as among other reasons the stud dog may not be available and our girl stressed quite a bit in the ferry.

From what I understand, an a.i mating is accepted by the K.c as long as te dog dosent live in the UK so we tick that box.

So now I need to find the best clinic that can deal with the frozen semen insemination - beig a complete novice I would rather use
Somewhere recommended by someone in the know - any one have any recommendations?

Thanks

You would get better results using F4resh chilled semen, and with it only being Ireland may find it easier to get the timing and transportation sorted.

The success rate with chilled semen is nearly as good as with natural matings, where with frozen it is far less.

Procedures are similar to frozen re licences etc.

Thanks guys

Just trying to find a repro vet fairly close to me ( within 3 hours) as the one above is around 4 hours and would rather have a closer vet - if one is available

I've not used this place so don't really know anything about it, other than it is there.

UK Clone is brilliant.  Hector the vet there sent semen from my dog to Australia - one vial used and the bitch has been scanned for 6+ puppies (may even be 9).  This is a good sized litter for even a natural mating.

They get good success rates in Australia, but it is nearly always surgical insemination.
