Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Late season...

I am hoping to mate Mo on her next season and typically she is now late.

Her previous seasons have been March 2012 (1st season), October 2012 and June 2013, so I was expecting January/February 2014 this time.

She is showing no signs of coming in, although for the last 3 weeks young Frederick (entire, 14 months old) has been trying to hump her at every available opportunity. She is not flagging and is telling him off, so I don't think it's a silent season. Her 1st 2 seasons she came in at the same time as her mother, who was always 7/8 months (her mum was spayed after her 2nd litter so Mo's 3rd season she was on her own). Her younger half sister had her 1st season at the beginning of December and I half expected her to come in then, but she didn't.

I guess I will just have to be patient but really would have thought she'd be in by now.

Pedlee im in thw same position. Normally pretty much bang on 6mnths and now we've gone way over that..

I just wonder if they know whats impending and just dont fancy a s**g right now ;-)

It's very frustrating isn't it. I'm sure it can't be far off, as Frederick is soooo interested in her, but I just wish she'd get on with it...

Isnt it just as booked a lot of time off work for a litter, which will now have to be changed and howpfully they will allow it.

We had all the signs ages ago she was coming in and then nothing, my boy was interested in her and she's been humping madly... I too considered a silent season but from reading up on it this hasn't been the case either

I just hope she doesn't wait for her half sister to come in again as that could be months off. My original plan was to have a litter from her on her last season but with 2 young delinquents (litter brother and sister kept from her Mum's 2nd litter) it would have been too chaotic. I'm beginning to wish I'd gone ahead then.

You know what they say about a watched kettle, you can guarantee that a late season is generally the one when you're waiting to do the mating.

Bitches - just so typical of them.  One of my girls has always been just over 8 months but for the first time is late - not that I want to mate her this time but want her elder sister to come in - she came in early with my other 2 when I didn't want her too - they must just sense it....  Perhaps its a good things she's late and her sister may come in with her...  we wait and see

You know what they say about watched pots/kettles.    I've read somewhere that the weather recently has upset things ........ if he's interested in her, my bet is she's cranking up.   Strange she didn't kick in when your other bitch came in - one quite often brings the others in if it's around their time.

And here's me desperately hoping one of my girls holds off...fat chance!.....a month early just to put a total spanner in the works.
