my girl was booked for her stud (shes staying few days and im booked in for a hotel)tomorrow BUT today she is bleeding heavier than she has all week...shes on day 7 today...im wondering on wether to leave her a few more days then take her...I thought the bleeding had slowed so we planned that day...she was going to stud a few days early so she can get comfortable with him being around ect...
whatcha reckon???

Can't say I've ever noticed less blood when the bitch was ready to be mated, mine are the same all the way through.

So are mine.... They never were any good at reading the book of the bitch !!!

I would not particularly be concerned about the bleeding but I have never had one mated so early. Have heard of it but not my experience.
I assume tests have suggested she is ready.
The only time I had blood tests done I rushed a couple of hundred miles at day 9. Nothing followed and I have never bothered with testing since.

Mine bleed all the way through mating, until the end of the normal season.  And still have litters.  Mine disproved the "straw colour" bolony years ago!  :-)

Yes, they're called tarts. :-)

On the opposite side of the coin there are those who hardly do at all. Despite the Draminski readings, my this concerned me but now have a litter of 10.

my girl began to flag on day 5!! but i knew it was waaaaaaaaay to soon, the bleeding got heavier on day 7, then turned light and more straw coloured by day 8, we mated her on day 10 and she indeed got pregnant! i also thought she would need time to get comfortable but she didnt lol once she realised why he was here i seen her slaggish behaviour kick in and they got down to business.

For sure, bitches don't read text-books.  What you see suggested is usually just 'the norm'.   Most of mine bled through roughly the first week, and then the discharge was less, and not quite so blood-coloured.   After that, mated or not, most of mine would, during the third week, just gradually have less discharge and that was it.   However, one of mine went back to a more blood-coloured discharge during the third week and although she was otherwise fine and I didn't think she needed to see a vet, I also thought those matings (there were two good matings) have never taken.   She had an uneventful pregnancy, and 9 puppies, 3 of which were so good that we kept them.

That was very helpful for me, mamabas, as my pup is having her first season. It's been a long time since I've had a dog in season that I had forgotten details as to what MAY happen. Thank you.

Mine bleed all the way through too.
As you are going there so early(day 8?), I would consider getting a blood test done to know where she is at.
One of mine was madly flagging from day 8 and I think she would have happily allowed him to mate her(Tart).
We got there early as had 3 days travel so wanted to get there and then do first prog tests (as with £2000 travel costs I did not want to get there to find out we have missed the boat!).
However he would play and test mount but that was it.
After few days of this, even when you know she is probably not ready, you start thinking what about if he is not going to mate her for some reason???
Prog tests revealed she was nowhere near ready, ovulated in the end I think it was day 15 so if he had mated on day 8, it might have been too early to be successful.

Also, if he was to mate your girl tomorrow, would you keep trying until she says no more?
You might end up with a really big window of when the pups might be born which could be STRESSFUL and costly if you ended up in and out of vets...
This is another reason I test, to know when the pups are due. My breed seems to be pretty much on the dot of 62-63 days from ovulation :-)
