Good luck to all of our members whom are off to Crufts this year. Please let us know how you get on and post your results in this thread. Don't forget to let us have your name, the name of your dog and the class entered and of course, the placing! Most of all, enjoy your day :)

I had a good day. 3 of my breeding there and we managed 3 x 2nds 1 x 3rd and a very good HC in a strong open bitch class with 16 entries ! Biggest entry we have had for many years and some strong overseas contenders.. so I am a happy bunny tonight.

For those of us who don't know which breed everyone keeps, can we have a breed mentioned with the award. Thanks :)

Much as the avatars are a clue - agreed!

I'm glad to read of some homebred (presumably) wins.   It's alarming me to see how many BOB/Group placings are going to overseas visitors!!!   What's going on!!   Are these dogs really so much better than our home-growns, or is this about judges looking for reciprocal judging assignments/holidays - I know, the cynic in me.   It's a bit of a kick in the you-know-where otherwise.

BOB in my main breed went to a dog from overseas and it was very well deserved indeed, the best dog (or rather bitch) won, simple as that. There were also several others entered from overseas and they all got beaten by UK dogs. :)

It was our worst year for quite a long time, but I did have my best bitch at home with pups and the best dog out of coat so therefore not shown -those two took RBCC and DCC last year.  So I'd more or less just entered to take part and to ensure everyone in the family (bar me who hates handling :) ) had something to handle. And I should have been back today for my second breed BUT my only one entered decided to come into season so she stayed at home and so did we! (Also did DD all day Friday and are going back tomorrow to watch Obedience World Cup and BIS.)

The Goldmali results, BSD Malinois:
Goldmali Bohemian Rhapsody 1st Veteran Dog and 1st Good Citizen Dog, handled by my daughter. He was however alone in both classes.
Goldmali Believe 4th Veteran Bitch and 3rd GC bitch, handled by my husband
Cymry Penny Wise Goldmali 4th GC bitch, handled by my son
G. Brown Sugar ShCM (bred by me but not owned) 2nd in veteran B.
G. Flashdance (ditto), 3rd in Open B -in the biggest OB class I have EVER seen in the breed (10 entries, 9 present), so quite pleased really. :)
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 08.03.14 17:57 UTC
I hadn't expected to have anything to post here, but my Cavalier Lottie got 3rd out of 8 in Good Citizen Bitch!!! She was handled by my friend as I also had my veteran girl Ellie in that class, she was unplaced in both classes but showed beautifully as always and didn't put a foot wrong, I think she was just a little big for this judge. Lottie is a bit smaller and has a very pretty head. Very proud of both my girls!

Ok it wasnt an actual placing but as I have the breed with the 3rd top entry over all breeds it certainly isnt easy! I took Milligan(aka Teeton Mill) to his very last Crufts & out of an entry of 22 he was finalised, not only that he was the eldest in his class...being 12 in May. Like I say not a placing but an acheivement & I was very pleased. :)

Oooh interesting to read that - my Whippet bitch (not shown - she flies her ears for one thing) is a granddaughter of Teeton Mill via her sire Chibuku Jet Setter at Robadaw.   Glad to hear the old boy is going strong still.   I loved the BOB Shalfleet dog's colouring.   Teazel is a blue brindle.

Isnt it a small world....lol. We still have Teeton Mills mother she has turned 16 just 10 days ago, we also have Milligans sister. Jet Setter is a lovely dog &  the spitting image of his father.

Great to hear there is longevity in the bloodlines on that side.  Teazel's breeder lost her mother rather too young from my understanding of Whippets.   Although I had experience with my neighbours' Whippets long before this, Teazel is rather a new venture after years with Bassets.   I came to the end of my bloodline and decided I wanted something a little taller, and lighter.    Even knowing a thing or two about Whippets (I thought), she was quite a challenge early days (9 weeks ) until I figured out how to unlock her brain.   Stubborn I knew about, but stubborn and FAST was quite another matter.  Actually she's really smart - understands loads of words!!   And gets on like a house on fire with our Basset - yes, I bought another when I realised I couldn't live without my first love.  I think she thinks she's a Basset, and he thinks he's a Whippet.   Certainly she doesn't react when she seems another Whippet.

Did anybody else but the crufts show guide? I opened it up to be faced by an advertisement for the 'UK's premier labradoodle' kennel?! Gobsmacked wasn't the word!

New thread on the subject here

Unbelievable, except I suppose if people pay the advertising fee, they can't be turned away!!!  Too bad.
- By Luckygirl [gb] Date 10.03.14 11:11 UTC
Well there was also those utonagans or is it Northern Inuits? Advertises as well. However, their advert did clearly state that this was not a KC registered breed. Whereas, the labradoodle one claimed they'd been showing since 19-something. Very misleading! The show guide is the main staple that the general public buy, a large majority of people will now believe because a labradoodle was advertised in a crufts show guide and the breeders have been showing that they are a kc endorsed breed. Not a clever move at all and the first of it's kind I've seen!

Thank you Lucy - I certainly did :) absolutely thrilled my seven year old Conny Con Cons (Gordon Setter) 3rd in a strong limit class - I totally didn't expect him to place !  and then 2nd in Good Citizen - he was a superstar and bombed round the ring :)  He woowooed after getting his second in good citizen

Boo wasn't placed in breed but was shortlisted out of 19 in YKC Stakes under Frank Kane so Jess over the moon and the lad showed his socks off and did her proud which is all we can ask

and I still took the best dogs home :)
