My 12 month old pup is in season (1st season) on day 11 and for the last 24hrs has whined incessantly... nothing medically wrong with her and I have had bitches whinge a bit but this is driving me up the wall !!! She even whinges while out walking !! She is very good at it.
She is off her grub but that's par for the course with a Bernese in season ! She will eat some things...cooked chicken, bonio's, Mums home made bickies !! but food in her bowl .. nah! no thanks....
I think she just wants a man!! I have tried all sorts to quieten her but to no avail. Chewies are booooring.... cuddles are OK but she can whinge all the time ! Walks are fun but do not stop the whining, even big meaty bones are shunned....
Have any of you had such a whingey girlie ? If so how long did it go on for. I shall be breaking out the ear plugs soon at this rate..

My old girl used to whine constantly around days 7-14 all the while either gazing out the window or sniffing the air in the garden!
I didn't need to guess what she wanted!

You are fortunate this is just whining, irritating as that is!   I had one who literally howled.  Much of this was because she had to be confined but she was truly dreadful - first season.   As this was going on, and upsetting everybody else (if the males weren't upset enough!) and as she, a buy-in, really wasn't as good as I hoped, I had her spayed and rehomed her.   She was such a sweet person, but was totally disruptive within my pack (not only that).   Perhaps I should have stuck with the Emily she was called instead of renaming her Havoc!!!

I'd imagine she'll stop once she's over 'the days'.    Perhaps your only option is to get her spayed!!

ps   I'd be careful about walking her straight from your property, especially if she's calling like this.  Any local roaming male will follow her trail home and if you are not watchful, every second, could catch her.   Maybe taking her off somewhere quiet, on a lead, in your car might be a wise move at least while she's right on for mating.

We are well used to seasons MamaBas, luckily very few dogs roaming the streets these days and with my high fences and fort knox security we do not have problems !! LOL But I know what you mean, I have had over 30 years of rampant bitches to learn by  ;-)
I think I can cope with a couple of weeks whinging though and will not be spaying her for that reason.

On the upside Merlot, at least she lets you know when she's receptive :-)

She sounds like a bit of a trollop to me.  :-)
