shes 40days and we were out walking when an Alsatian must have escaped from someones garden and came running from behind us so i did not see it until it was really close and it started barking and growling, my pooch was shaking and i instantly picked her up but it ran infront of us and started jumping up at her and barking. i really didnt know what to do! i thought well if i kick it it may attack me... a couple of seconds later someone else was walking their dog across the street and their dog barked and it ran towards their dog so i quickly escaped. my poor pooch was shaking. iv carried her home and she seams perfectly fine now, asleep beside me. i know stress is not good.... is she most likely to be ok?

She'll be fine, try not to worry. She'll partly be led by your reactions so ensure that the next few times you are out with her that you give off very confident and happy energy. If she starts to react by getting anxious around other big dogs- and she may not at all- then use distraction by getting her to focus on you, perhaps using a watch command, and reward with treats or a toy she really likes.

Try not to get anxious yourself as this will influence her, if you appear not be worried this will help her to feel secure. View that incident as an unlucky and scary one off.

If the incident was near where you live see if you can go around to the house without her and explain to the owner what happened and seek reassurance that the dog will be controlled after that. If not I'd just avoid that area if you can.

Hope so - dogs can be like elephants and not forget, so try to make all her future outings, good ones.   Just to ask why you have a puppy that young out (on the ground?) in the first place?   Surely she's not had all her vaccination shots yet and if not, she should not be out off your property.

I think you've misunderstood MamaBas. This isn't a puppy that's 40 days old, but a bitch 40 days in whelp.

not 40days old, she was 40days pregnant... now 41days. but thanx she seams fine in herself
