A slap in the face with reality....not to bad

Well on Friday I was at the hospital another appointment about my knee and while I was there I was waiting I saw a older woman walk past me to book in I took no notice and then she went back past again after booking in. Then all of a sudden they called a name I knew and she stood up and went in and I realised the older woman was a good friend from school in fact she married a chap whose best mate I used to date.
A slap in the face of reality I am 50 I could be taken for an "older lady"

LOL

I see old friends from school, and my Children say things like "No way are you the same age mum"  :-D

My doctor has to keep checking my age as he keeps thinking I'm 15 years younger :-D

I may not be as svelte as I was, but at least the extra padding has some uses LOL

LOL - I hit the big 50 at the end of the week and have also got to the stage of finding that policemen, doctors, etc are now looking like children!

I find myself holding doors for older people, or letting an older person go first, and then realising that the "older person" is my age or younger lol!

My much loved, handsome, dashing brother turned 80 last November, he still works full time in his company with his sons. I find it hard to believe I have a brother of such a great age! We were talking about his big birthday on the phone and I said 'well, I shall be 69 next birthday' his reply ' but you just can't be- you are my baby sister !' :)

Where do all the years go?  When are we classed as elderly? I tend to call myself 'mature' :) All you 50 year olds are mere kids :)  My eldest daughter will be 50 this year, hang on a minute- she can't be she's one of my babies :)

All to easy to deny reality ...... we were out front gardening, some 10+ years ago now and somebody stopped to ask directions.    I heard him, afterwards, telling the other people in the car about 'the old couple gave such-and-such directions'.    I actually turned round to see if he was talking about somebody else!!!

Aargh, I'm turning 40 this year, but at least the majority of my friends seem to be older so I don't feel too old yet!

LOL
When I was 55 my workplace sent me on a "pre-retirement course."

After the trip a friend at work asked me if I enjoyed the day.

I said it was bloody rubbish, it was all old people there.  :-)

Slap in the face at 39 - when I moved in as a lodger and my landlady was in her late 20's pushing 30.... she introduced me to some people in the village who were all over 50, and told me they "were in my age group" !!!

Couple of years ago when I was late 40's, I was walking my dog when I noticed a group of school kids, I guess they were 12/13, walking towards me. I remember thinking that it seemed only five minutes ago that I walked from the same school with my friends. Anyway, as the group got closer I heard one of the lads say "move out of the way and let this old lady pass" !!. I suppose I should be delighted that they had the manners to move !.

And even worse, almost, than my father in law comment,i was out with my sister walking our dogs, when when I was about 25, we had to pass a bunch of what id call"gobby kids".Sister made some comment to them, and was told to"shut up you old bag!"Sis is 8 years younger than me!we had to cackle at that!

I was 50 at the beginning of March, and my Dad turned round and said " You can't be 50, I'm far too young to have a child of that age".........Bless him, he's 81 :-)  and I'm the youngest! :-)
