If you only want it to do that then you can get a much cheaper version. A few years ago a got one of
these gps loggers for my Christmas, I wrap it in clingfilm and tape it to the dogs collars and have great fun seeing the patterns they make running and how much ground they cover. I've also used it at the racing to see how fast each dog runs. My lot have been swimming with it on and are always getting wet and muddy so it seems very robust.
