I have used a Draminski on several litters including one I have due soon but never have total confidence in how I use and read it!!! I usually land up on the man from B.o.s.s.'s shoulder asking for advice on my interpretation. The problem is that any number of bitches could have so many different peak readings so it is hard to generalise. For example my current litter, ( her first so I had no guide) her readings went really high and so I did not believe I was getting it right. Mating should ideally take place after the peak which in the end for her was 17 days which I thought was too late so I asked them was I reading right. Seems I was as she has taken and due on the 17th.
Ideally a bitch should be very relaxed about the process and I have been lucky with mine as it would be difficult to use for a jumpy bitch/one that is not happy about the process and the handler needs to be confident.
Having said that, at least once purchased you are testing at home and I once paid for blood tests which showed I should go to the stud dog at 9 days. Immediately shot up North and it was a nonsense. She was clearly nowhere near ready and it proved to be a waste of time and money.
Now I would say I use the Draminski in conjunction with my instinct and if you have other dogs ( including bitches) watching their behaviour with the others change as the season progresses, is also a good guide. Hope that helps and good luck.

I bought 1 when they first came out for a bitch who had been impossible to get in pup.  It's not something you can just use as the bitch comes into season as you need to take readings to get  an idea of the usual state of your girl, so forward planning needed.  I used it on the bitch 3 times, and got a litter each time, but have never even considered using it again as it was such a hassle with the charts etc.  I did lend it to a firend to use a few years ago, and they got a litter too.

So I would say, yes, used with care they work, but are time taking.

Sterilisation of this between each use is vital and I mean between each reading and whilst it might seem a bit tight, I would not let even my best friend have use of mine.
